Provenance
- Genealogy
If your walking
stick purchase has a name and/or location engraved on the handle or collar,
it may be possible to trace. Some websites to search include: www.ancestry.com,
www.genealogy.com
and www.rootsweb.com.
The last one is searchable without a paid subscription, but the other
two do offer some free services. Another recommended site, The Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints site, which is free, at www.familysearch.org.
States also put vital records online. Illinois has a terrific site at
www.cyberdriveillinois.com/department/archives/databases.html.
Another excellent site is www.cyndislist.com
which offers more than 200,000 links to genealogy sites most of which
are free.
